  • What is an Eclipse?

An eclipse is a natural phenomenon that happens when the Sun, Moon, and Earth line up. Eclipses result in a unique view of either the sun or the Moon. There are 2 main types of eclipses: solar and lunar eclipse. A solar eclipse happens when the Moon crosses the path between the sun and the Earth - casting a shadow that can be visible when you look at the Sun. A lunar eclipse happens when the Earth crosses the path between the Moon and the sun - casting a visible shadow on the Moon.

    SAFETY FIRST!

Some reminders before you use your SEIC solar eclipse glasses:

    MARK YOUR CALENDAR

    • 2023 ANNULAR SOLAR ECLIPSE - On October 14th 2023, an annular eclipse (when the sun forms a ring around the moon) will cross the United States from Oregon to Texas. SEIC Glasses are what you need to safely view this eclipse.
    • 2024 TOTAL SOLAR ECLIPSE - Don’t miss the once-in-a-generation Total Solar Eclipse on April 8th 2024. The next total solar eclipse viewable in the USA won't take place until August 23rd, 2044. Gather your family, friends and SEIC Glasses and prepare to be amazed as the moon passes in front of the sun, completely blocking it from view during Totality, which lasts but mere minutes.
